Miss Major is a respected, long-time activist in the transgender community. Gracious, cordial, caring, empathetic and involved, Miss Major is a sculptor—but instead of working with clay, she works with people's minds.
Miss Major has worked at many transgender community organizations and public health agencies serving the transgender community, including the Ark of Refuge, Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center, the Santa Clara Department of Public Health AIDS Program, and the San Diego AIDS Foundation. Miss Major is a highly sought-after speaker on issues ranging from transgender self-esteem and body image, HIV/AIDS prevention in the transgender community, and issues affecting transgender people in prisons and jails. She has spoken at local community groups, regional and national conferences, as well as at universities and law schools. She was most recently honored for her lifetime of activism with the Vanguard Award from the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco.
Originally born in Chicago, she left for New York City at age 15. Miss Major's activism traces back to an early membership in the Mattachine Society, and bearing witness to the famed 1969 uprising at the Stonewall Inn.
Everywhere she goes, Miss Major has tirelessly sought to create a safe haven for people of all genders, ages and backgrounds where they can find the inner peace and strength to live in the world as themselves. Miss Major currently serves as the lead Community Organizer for the TGI Justice Project, a legal nonprofit organization promoting the human rights of transgender, gender variant and intersex people in prisons and jails.

Referred to as the "Margaret Cho" of diversity trainers, Jessica Pettitt blends politics, humor, identity and local flair with big-city passion and energy through direct, individualized, interactive conversations. From the conservative conversations at Jessica's grandmother's porch in Texas to the bustling streets of New York City, there is social justice work to be done. Jessica Pettitt is grounded in social justice and diversity, and uses a lot of humor in workshops, trainings, and speeches. Jessica has a long list of presentation history, including the LeaderShape Institute, Gender Odyssey, NGLTF Creating Change, and the White Privilege Conference.
Having traveled and lived in a variety of communities and environments all over the world, while also engaging with education as student, teacher, administrator, and active community member, Jessica uses her take on life to lead participants through a safe but confrontational process of examination, self reflection, and open dialogue that is as challenging as it is rewarding.
